The Fonó received Budapest’s Pro Urbe Award recognizing three decades of providing anactive venue for performance, recording, publication, collection and communityspace for folk music, world music and jazz. Director Horváth László accepted the award on November 17th, 2025 adding this honor to a number of other awards for Fonó’s dedicated and ongoing work. On the same day folk singer Sebestyén Márta was named Budapest honored citizen. "Her artistry and singing voice bridges the gap of the centuries andraises goosebumps on listeners today". In Márta’s own words ’music brings not justpeople,but the souls of the masses closer together...’ Kaláka Ensemble also received recognition for more than five decades of their music and musical activities.
