This festival is held every two years – it has been going for more than 60 years now. It has changed over the years according to the needs of the profession, providing opportunity for amateur or beginning choreographers to show folk dance works for small ensemble. This year 30 works in three categories were presented and rated by a jury of professionals: 15 authentic folk dance choreographies, 8 folk dance theatre choreographies, 7 folk dance films. 12 authentic folk dance choreographies are briefly summarized by festival director Varga János Boxos. Special attention was given to Antal Áron’s piece “Lámpa-Világ”. Filmmaker Buzás Mihály critiqued 3 dance films that were presented. Dance film was a new category this year. Three folk dance theatre choreographies were summarized by Mihályi Gábor (director - Hungarian State Folk Dance Ensemble) and Szögi Csaba (dancer, choreographer, theatre director). "Folkstanz_für_Wanda" by Szabó Zsombor with dancers from the Hungarian State Folk Dance Ensemble – was especially praised. The festival was held at Hevesi Sándor Theatre in Zalaegerszeg, Hungary on May 30- 31, 2026.
