Szabadtéri Néprajzi Múzeum, ELTE Néprájztudományi Kutatóintézet. Szentendre – Budapest, 2026. Here the author - who has also been author of FolkMAGazin’s ‘food and traditions’ column since 2011 - introduces us to her new book. “An ethnic group’s culture is reflected in their language, music and folk customs, as well as in their eating habits." Food and tradition has been a main subject of her ethnographic work, and she just likes to cook. The book begins with two studies: one on cooking in the author’s hometown of Gyomaendröd in Eastern Hungary. The other study presents her collection work on food traditions of Csömör – a village on the eastern edge of Budapest. The rest of the book presents selections from the author’s ongoing ‘food and traditions’ column in FolkMAGazin. Included here are also recipes for her father’s “Betyáros” – a stew-like one pot meal traditionally made outdoors by shepherds in the Hungarian plains; her version of Russian beet salad; and her beet soup. By Ethnographer Juhász Katalin.
