Holecz Istvánné Kanyó Margit (1945. május 4. – 2025. május 16.)
Holecz Istvánné Kanyó Margit (1945–2025). "With a heavy heart but deepest gratitude we stand here to bid our final farewells to a person who is irreplacable not only to her family, but to her community. She leaves a void behind that cannot be filled. Like no one else, Margitka knew and performed the Palóc folk music and folk dance traditions of [Hungary’s] Nógrád County. She was lucky to have acquired her knowledge in a village community where the folk customs and folk traditions were still alive well into the 1960s.” The folk dance movement learned the Rimóc verbunk and csárdás mainly from Margitka and her dance partners. She was known as the village song bird. Her singing gave her endless joy in her daily life, "When I sing I am always filled with happiness." Her extraordinary talent for folk dance and song already became clear when she was a child and her love for them remained with her throughout her life. She was recognized with many local and national awards. Eulogy by Török János president of the Palócföld Folk Crafts Association.
