Gondolatok az Olsvai-kötet kapcsán
New Publication: Sebő Ferenc’s speech introducing the new book republishing the writings of folk music researcher, composer Olsvai Imre (Budapest, 1931–2014). Sebő begins his speech: "…so much has already been said about the beginning of the dance house movement, but we can agree that its success was the fruit of a cooperation between many people. Amongst those I think that the most important was the group of scientists in the background. Olsvai Imre was one of that group – the group of researchers who, in addition to their research and classification work, took an intense interest in thea ctivities of the cultural organizers… Olsvai spent an enormous amount of time supporting the dance house movement, offering practical advice, sitting on the juries at the competitions….” Sebő said he completely agrees with the thought: …the folk music and dance traditions we have inherited – don’t need to be guarded –they’re not prisoners; they don’t need to be nursed or tended to because they’re not sick – we must simply continueu sing them, because they’re good… they help us live today too.” Heard at the book release event at Budapest’s Hungarian Heritage House on May 21st, 2025.
