In memory of Pál István “Pista bácsi” (Feb 1919–March 2015) – shepherd, bagpipe player from Hungary’s Palóc region. He was an important and beloved informant of the dance house movement who provided bagpipe players, ethnographers and the táncház movement with a wealth of inspiration and information not only on traditional, but also human life. The name of this piece “Anyone born of a mother, must sooner or later die” – is a quote from Pista bácsi. The interviewer asked him about when and how he prayed and his relationship to religion.
