Food and tradition – Having several times covered Hungarian traditional Christmas foods and meals, this issue offers information on customary Christmas fare from other parts of Europe. Topics: In many places in Europe, as in Hungary, fish is an important component of the meal on December 24th; The traditional Swedish smorgasbord; In Poland, Lithuania and Western Ukraine the meal on December 24th has 12 courses; In Provence (France) the Christmas meal is completed by a spread of 13 different holiday desserts. Recipes included are: Norwegian/Swedish "lutefisk", Danish Christmas pork roast, Danish red cabbage, Danish rice pudding, Italian/ Spanish torrone /turrón. By ethnographer Juhász Katalin.
