Sára Ferenc 1961–2023 was a talented expert on traditional dance and music of the Hungarian Csángó people of the Gyimes region of Transylvania and Romanian Moldavia. Originally from Tura, Hungary after continual visits, he finally settled in Gyimes (Sötétpatak) in the late 1990s and lived there ever since. He and his wife Varga Zsuzsanna have been dedicated to keeping the traditional music and dance alive amongst the new generations of local Gyimes people. Sára Ferenc’s efforts and work were recently recognized with the Cross of the Hungarian Knights. His funeral was held in Gyimesközéplok, Romania on October 12th, 2023.
