An excerpt from: András Erzsi"Erdei": "Kedvemre való hogy meséljek" Mentor Kiadó, Marosvásárhely, 2008 pp 18-20. This excerpt is about the winter custom of the spinning parties. Unmarried girls gathered at someone’s house to do their spinning together. This was also the place where the boys came to court the girls. At one time in Magyarvista there were three spinning parties - one on each street of the village. The girls would get as much spinning done as they could before the boys arrived. After that, there were games, jokes, singing and the boys trying to get the girls to kiss them. The girls had to be home before dark.
