On the death of Transylvanian poet Rafi Lajos. Rafi Lajos was born in 1970 into a Gypsy tinsmith family in the town of Marosvásárhely/Târgu Mureş in Transylvania. He graduated from secondary school and lived in Gyergyószárhegy/Lăzarea. He was first published in 1989, then a book of his poetry was published in 2007 by L’Harmattan Press and later another volume of his poetry was published. He was the father of 6 children and supported his family as a tinsmith. The piece here, written by a friend of Rafi ’s, muses on whether suicide was a factor in Rafi ’s death – or not.
