Halmos Béla (1946–2013) was one of the founders of the dance house movement. He played lead fiddle for the Sebő Ensemble and later for the Kalamajka Ensemble. He was also an ethnomusicologist, did field collection work, founded the Dance House Archive and much, much more. The present administrator of the Dance House Archive summarizes Halmos’s life and activities. This year the dance house movement celebrates 46 years, Halmos would have celebrated 72.
