Conversation with Salamon József "Sala", founder and director of a Hungarian folk dance and music camp – Csipke Tábor – held every summer since 2007 in Michigan, USA. Nowadays the camp, which has evolved into a family camp, hosts some 160-170 participants mostly of Hungarian background. Teaching staff is brought over from Hungary or Transylvania. Sala, originally from the village of Gyergyótölgyes/ Tulgheș in Transylvania, danced professionally in the Transylvanian ensembles for many years before arriving to the US in 1999. With regards to the future of the camp he says: "…[to lead the camp] someone with a vision is needed, someone others trust and will follow… someone who is willing to work without complaint and competition, and can pull the others along…" By Antal-Ferencz Ildikó – first published on: 777bloghu/2023/07/15.
