International Folklore Festival of Bukovina Peoples: Bukovina is a small ethnically mixed region in the Carpathian Mountains. Between 1775 and 1918 it existed as an administrative unit under the Austro-Hungarian monarchy. During the period between the two world wars the region belonged to Romania. Today Bukovina is split between Romania and Ukraine. It was/is inhabited by Ukranians, Romanians, Jews, Germans, Poles, Armenians, Ruthenians, Roma, and Hungarians. In 1990 the first Bukovina folklore festival was organized in Poland presenting nine Bukovinan Polish groups (seven from Poland, two from Bukovina). Over the years the festival has been expanded to include folkgroups of other Bukovinan ethnic groups. In 2023 the festival was held in June, July and August in six different locations in Poland, Romania and Hungary. The Bukovina Székely Folk Song circle from Érd, Hungary participated in Hungary and in Poland this year. Report by Mrs Juhász Gábor and Cserháti Gabriella.
