Sárosi Bálint (born 1925 Csíkrákos/Racu, Romania, folk music researcher) In 1965 Martin György and Sárosi Bálint spent half a year in Ethiopia collecting traditional music and dance there. Emperor Haile Selassie had invited one ethnomusicologist and one dance researcher from Hungary for this purpose - Sárosi and Martin were chosen for the task because they both spoke languages and it was thought that they could both handle the conditions in Africa. This is a short account of their trip. They were obliged to write reports and recommendations afterward. "Martin recommended a movement to document all the traditional dance and music material nation-wide. A very enthusiastic plan - as if there was a whole country of Martins. Hungary only had one [Martin]. Ethiopia didn’t even have one." The Ethiopians recieved copies of all material collected.
