Memory of Saint László amongst the Hungarian Csángós of Moldavia. One of the legends cited here was collected by Bosnyák Sándor in the village of Klézse/Cleja. "There is a tree on the banks of the Szeret/Siret River. They say Saint László planted the tree. He planted it celebrating that he’d thrown the [invading] foreigners out of the country, but when the Tatars invaded, the tree began to dry out. Then when he chased them out, it turned green again. When Rákóczi beat the Germans it turned nice and green...when Kossuth’s soldiers came in [18]48, it turned green, but then it dried out and it has remained that way to this day and who knows if it’ll ever turn green again.” By Halász Péter.
