Interview with Hungarian actor Bubik Réka – on her folk dance connections and experience - and her role as the bride in the Hungarian feature folk dance and music film “Hungarian Wedding” [Magyar Menyegző]. Bubik Réka (born in 2000) grew up in the world of stage and rehearsal spaces. Her mother was a professional folk dancer, her father an actor. From the age of 10 she began dancing in Budapest’s Bihari Folk Dance Ensemble – where she danced for 10 years. At some point she had to make a decision whether to pursue acting or dance. Eventually she was encouraged to audition for the Hungarian Academy of Acting and Film and was accepted on first try. This year she completed her studies and has been hired as an actor at Hungary’s National Theatre. This has been her first experience acting (and dancing!) in a feature film. By Grozdits Károly
