Magyar Zoltán: Hideg Anna meséi
Series: Anna néni’s tales - Hideg Anna traditional singer, story teller of Transylvania’s Ördöngösfüzes/ Fizeşu Gherlii (Mezőség region) in celebration of her 90th birthday. This tale tells about the swamp that used to be where her native village, Ördöngösfüzes, is now. The Hungarian name of the village means more or less: devilsh willow grove. The strange thing about the swamp was that as the plants there rotted, they glowed. A priest there had girl servant that became bedridden with a mysterious ailment. All the priests in the vicinity were called to help cure her which they did by slapping the girl’s bed with their walking sticks to scare out the devil.
