New Publication: Füleki László: Bálványosváralja táncélete és táncai a 20. Században [The dance life and dances of Bálványosváralja in the 20th century] - published privately. Printed here is the forward to this 400+ page book. Bálványosváralja/Unguraș is a village in the Mezőség region of Transylvania’s Kolozs /Cluj County. The book is commended for its wealth of data most of which is the result of the author’s good rapport with the inhabitants of the village and nearly 150 pieces of ethnographic documentation he collected (interviews, films, photos, music recordings). The book is organized in the traditional manner: introduction to the location and history of previous research. The author describes the method of learning dance in the village, dance events, dances danced there, vocabulary of dance figures.
